Al Shoua
Recently Lay, Pitman & Associates completed a six-month project on the latest vessel for Shadow Marine. YCO took delivery of the 206 ft. Al Shoua, Yacht Support Ship. The Captain and crew have conveyed their enthusiasm with the functionality and handling of the vessel.
Allure

Lay, Pitman provided the conversion construction documents and engineering for this exciting yacht. The Allure has hosted several parties including the Sea Keepers dinner and the Nikki Beach white party.
Voyager Class
LP&A is currently working on a new build design for a 336 ft. x 55 ft. Shadow Yacht for an undisclosed owner. There are many unique features planned for this design including a game room with a gyroscopic pool table, an underwater observation area, and "GREEN" philosophies. This new mega yacht is sure to provide the "WOW" that accompanies all of LP&A's designs.
Lay, Pitman & Associates designed the new casino platform for Pinnacle’s new casino "Lumiere" which recently opened in downtown St. Louis, MO. The floating portion of the facility is 435 ft. x 210 ft. on a single level casino floor, serving over 7,000 patrons.
The floating platform’s hull is constructed of reinforced concrete and floats in a man-made basin with structural restraints monitored by embedded strain gages to maintain a constant elevation with the surrounding facility. Basin water level is automatically controlled, a testament to LP&A's design innovation.
South St. Louis
Lay, Pitman & Associates has also been contracted to design the new Pinnacle South County Casino. This platform will be constructed using reinforced concrete and will be over 90,000 square feet.
A new casino vessel for Pinnacle Entertainment’s second license in the Lake Charles area is currently in the design phase. LPA will perform the Naval Architectural duties for this self-propelled paddlewheel powered vessel.
The vessel will have hulls constructed of reinforced concrete with conventional building-like structure for the remainder of the upper portions. American Bureau of Shipping Consulting Group will conduct the plan review and oversight inspections using the newly formulated Louisiana Alternate Certification process. The 328 ft. x 223 ft. vessel will be certified for 8,000 persons.
Horseshoe Casino celebrates the all-new 500 million dollar casino with a star-studded grand opening weekend. Bette Midler christened the new 3,500-seat entertainment facility, The Venue, for the grand opening performance. Josh Kelley kicked off his national tour and performed at the Skyline Stage while sharing a few personal anecdotes with the on looking intimate audience. The Venue was also proud to host the first local appearance in eight years by hometown heroes The Smashing Pumpkins.
Boasting more than 465,000 square feet, the new Horseshoe Casino features 158,000 square feet of gaming space, which is comparable to any floor in Las Vegas and equivalent to the size of six football fields. Horseshoe’s major expansion project completely transformed its coveted location along Northwest Indiana’s lakefront and capitalizes on its’ 20 minute proximity to Chicago.
The most amazing feature – it floats! The architect of record was Friedmutter Group, based out of Newport Beach, California who incorporated the elegant Las Vegas style onto the floating casino. The naval architecture for the world’s largest floating casino was designed and engineered by Lay, Pitman and Associates from Jacksonville, Florida. The Lay, Pitman group has become the premier floating casino designs with three nearby casinos on Lake Michigan and over twenty other designs nation wide. Based on a uniquely developed design concept utilizing modular construction, the facility consists of six barges, built at three shipyards and assembled on-site. Once the construction and outfitting was completed, the floating casino was moved into place and open within one week.
Rick Mazer, Indiana Regional President and GM, Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc., added, "It all came together so nicely and we are so excited this day has arrived. Everyone is having a great time."
The Argosy property (Penn National Gaming) in Lawrenceburg will be replacing their existing casino boat with a new and unusual vessel. The new vessel will be restrained in place by a series of huge hydraulic cylinders to maintain a fixed position level with the landside access walkways and the adjacent building, unaffected by rising river levels.
Lay, Pitman & Associates provided naval architecture and marine engineering services for the vessel. The vessel is self-propelled by (4) 1000 HP azimuth Z-drive units. ABS Consulting Group will be the regulatory agency and certify the vessel under the new Indiana Alternate Compliance regulations.
The 502 ft. x 269 ft. platform will offer two levels of gaming for the 10,796-person capacity. Opening is scheduled for mid summer 2009.
